On January 1, 2023, we will withdraw accounts in Croatian kuna from our offer.
Why are we withdrawing Croatian kuna?
We do this because the Croatian Kuna (HRK) will no longer be legal tender in Croatia. From January 1, 2023, the currency of Croatia will be EUR. This change is in line with the decision of the National Bank of Croatia and has been approved by the Council of the European Union.
Our bank can only maintain accounts for currencies that are legal tender.
How will the withdrawal of the HRK currency affect the handling of accounts?
Until December 31, 2022 inclusive, you can use the account in Croatian kuna as before - including paying with a multi-currency card in this currency.
You can also exchange HRK to PLN at the current exchange rate until December 31, 2022 and close your account in Croatian kuna. You can do it yourself in the online banking of Kantor Walutowy or in the mobile application of Kantor Walutowy. If you do not close your HRK account by December 31, 2022, we will close it automatically.
If on December 31, 2022, there are funds in the Croatian kuna account, then on January 1, 2023, automatically:
- we will convert them into euro at the rate set by the Council of the European Union, which is HRK 7.53450 for 1 EUR,
- we will transfer them to an account in EUR (if there is no account, we will open it for you free of charge at Kantor Walutowy).
Any orders to buy or sell HRK active as of December 31, 2022 will be canceled by us upon closing the Croatian kuna account. Until that date, however, you can cancel the above-mentioned yourself. orders in Kantor Walutowy, finding them in the "Currency exchange" tab, and then selecting the "Active orders" button.
HRK account statements will be available for download from Kantor Walutowy until December 31, 2022. After closing the above-mentioned account, it will be possible to generate a statement only at a Bank Branch. You can still use the functionality of Kantor Walutowy - support for other currencies remains unchanged.
